March 23 Morning, in Nanping, Fujian Province a man appeared to be mentally ill brandished a knife at the entrance of Luantong Nanping experimental elementary school during the time when students were just arriving to school. He continuously stabled and cut 13 elementary students. Currently, 9 children were killed and the other 4 are in critical condition and being rescued in the hospitals. The suspect was arrested by the police. 42 year old Zheng Mingsheng (郑民生) born in 1968 April 30, a local resident of Nanping, Fujian Province, was never married and used to be a community doctor, now unemployed since he quit his job in June of 2009. According to the people around him, suspect’s motive could be that he felt people around look down on him; both marriage and work are unsuccessful so he felt that he has no reason to live.

Eye witness said, when students were going to school, the suspect took out a knife that is 25 cm long, and shouted “They don’t let me live, force me to go crazy, and I won’t allow everyone to live!” Then he grabbed a student and started stabbing, he cut and stabled several students, only took tens of seconds. Some victim children went down but got up and walked a few steps then fell down again.

One reporter said many kids at the scene were scared to death, they started crying and ran straight home. Blood were everywhere in front of the school, when he arrived 3 of the children’s bodies were still there, just lying there, very sad.
The cleaning worker who fought the suspect, her face still has the scars. At the time of the incident, a PE teacher tried to save the students, he wanted to throw the bike next to him at the suspect, but it was too heavy. So he grabbed a mop and started fighting him. Finally with the help of other teachers and bystanders, the suspected was brought under control.
