Guiyang bus fire that killed 6 is the latest bus arson in China — a brief timeline

After noon on February 27, a man boarded bus no. 237 in Guiyang and ignited a barrel of gasoline on fire. The fire killed six and injured 35. Yesterday, a man surnamed Su was arrested for allegedly causing the arson. Su is alleged to have caused the fire because he believed his wife was having an affair.

Brother Public Transit’s trip home

A 27-year-old Shandong man is being called "Brother Public Transportation" after he returned home from Hangzhou to Shandong on public transportation, riding 35 bus routes over 660 kilometers. The story picked up interest as he chronicled his travels on Weibo. Beijing Morning Post wrote an article about him on August 5 that was picked up by China Daily Here it is:

“You buses piss me off”, Mercedes man smashes bus for not yielding

According to Xinmin Evening news, China has become the No. 1 country of new car consumption since 2009 with a compound annual growth rate of 25.6%. Last year alone, 18 million more new cars make it to the street, making noises, polluting the air and most apparently prevailing traffic jams.
