The Blank Slate of Sexual Education in the Chinese Countryside

As Chinese youth are exposed to more and more sex via the Internet in China’s rapidly expanding economy, the education system still has to catch up to their newfound curiosity. Even many schools in Beijing have only recently started true sex education classes, and these only usually begin in high school. There is an inconsistency in the way that China is becoming increasingly liberalized in some ways, but not quickly enough in some important ways and the problem of sexual education illuminates this (you can see the progression of abortion rates here). A number of horrific incidents have occurred recently, including a young woman giving birth in a toilet. Here is a recent article in the Slate concerning the lack of sex education in China. The following story provides a detailed description of the reaction of a small town to the incident of a 14-year old girl giving birth with no one ever noticing she was pregnant.

More Schoolgirl Violence caught on Video, this time in Fuzhou

[DNKB] While the recent Shanghai school girl “Sister Bear (Sister Xiong)” beating incident was not yet subsided. Another heavily discussed school girl beating incident was created. A 4 minutes long video showing four girls and one boy ganging up on one girl while many bystanders just watched recently became popular on many Chinese major websites. Kids in the video were speaking Fuzhou dialect. Netizens said “This group beating scene was even ‘better’ than the Shanghai schoolgirl fight.” Some netizens fleshed out the incident location is in Minhou (闽侯), the northwestern side of Fuzhou City in Fujian Province.

Shanghai Schoolgirl Violence, Public Outraged

A video about schoolgirls in Shanghai fighting appeared on well-known forum called KDS on the evening of October 23rd. The video is 5 minutes and 20 seconds in length. In an alley, a middle school schoolgirl wearing a purple T-shirt beat up another schoolgirl while many bystanders stood by, speaking in Shanghainese, and they continuously called the girl instigating and bullying “Sister Xiong” “Xiong Jie” (熊姐).

Daughter Killed Both Parents and Cut them into Pieces

2009-09-16 Guangzhou Daily reported in “Parents getting a divorce, daughter kills both parents and cut them into pieces

Evening of September 11th in a rental apartment in Zhongshan City (中山市沙溪镇云汉村) a man and a woman were killed and cruelly cut into pieces, the remains were still in the room. Until September 15th 8 am, their corpses were discovered by the landlord. Police came to the scene after receiving the call. They took the daughter of the victims in for questioning. Police initial investigation stated that the daughter killed both parents and cut them into pieces because her parents were going through a divorce.

Shenzhen University Beauty Committed Suicide, but Why?

Yesterday morning. Shenzhen university third year female student leaped from the top of her home building ended her 19-year-old life. It was not yet four month since she wrote on her blog “Cherish and love life”. Police have determined Yang Jing Qian (杨倩) committed suicide by jumping off the building. Her family and friends said she have made mistakes during the welcoming of 2009 new students at school and was criticized by the teacher severely. However Yang’s teacher advisor denied having criticized her.

Video of “Cloth Shoes Girl” being Ganged up

[QQ] Recently this video of a female high school student wearing cloth shoes being beaten up by several other students spread on the Chinese internet.  In the video this girl was blocked by other students at a staircase.  They forced her to kneel in front of them.  They pushed, kicked and slapped her in the face when she refused.  Yesterday, netizens human flesh searched and found this happened in Xinzhen Longhu First High School (新郑龙湖一中) in Henan province.
