A set of photos showed a class of primary school students studying in a classroom with a coffin in the front has shocked Chinese netizens and sparked heated discussion. Two years ago, a primary school in a small village in Shaanxi province was certified as a "dilapidated house". With no funding to build up a new school, the school rented a room from residence as the classroom. Since then, the students have been studying with the coffin.

I don’t know what Lu Meimei and her father has in mind after reading this news. China-Africa Hope Project, is a projected China hope to have in its own country.

The local country governor should fit the coffin well.

Where’s the Project Hope?

(Project Hope (希望工程) is a Chinese public service project aiming to bring schools into poverty-stricken rural areas of China, to help children whose families are too poor to afford it to complete elementary school education.)

The way you think of question is very partial. What’s ‘everybody get involved in education’ ? It doesn’t just mean, everybody has the right to receive education, it also means get involved in improving the education, especially education in poor area. It calls for a wider base of support from the public. Do you ever conduct a survey on the primary schools in the countryside? If you think education is just the responsibility of the government, then you are just talking generalities.

I know about the education condition in the mountain area far more better than all you guys. The primary schools of small villages scatter around the mountain. The construction materials are not that easy to be carried all the way up there. People always complain about the education in these areas, but can you take meaningful action to improve things? Yes, I agree that there is corruption and unbalance in education between poor area and rich area. But how about the local villagers? If they all do something, it won’t be impossible to build up a school with the help of all the villagers. I used to live in a poor area but not up in the hill. Life is much easier. Back then, most of the school’s infrastructure is done with the money donated by the villagers. Don’t just sit and wait for the help from the government. If the villagers play importance on the children’s education, they should stop being used to asking for help!

We have the money for a grand Beijing Olympic games, yet we are short of the money for a school. Why is that? Because we lack democracy in the country.

Does China really lack the money for building up a school? Buy a cheaper car for the government officials or let them stop drinking wines for a year, that would save up a fortune to build thousands of schools. Go check how much money the Shaanxi government has spent on dinners and alcohol in one year.

Who is the bustard that claimed, ‘However poor the country is, the education of children is the last thing to sacrifice.’? ("再苦不能苦孩子,再穷不能穷教育." literally means no matter how poor the country is, children should not be the one to suffer or be deprived of education. It was words of the Chou En-lai, the first Premier of the People’s Republic of China.)

The homeless die of hunger and cold by the roadside, while the rich dine and drink luxuriously in their mansions, even to let the leftover meat and wine rot away. (lines from a famous poem by the Du Pu, a prominent Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty )

What a shame that the education system of China cannot support these kids. Here you have people complaining about everything… look at what these poor kids have to go through…

    • shovelingsnow says:

What a shame for those kids! Because those CCP monkeys are evil and don’t care about anyone else! They are a bunch of dirty, yellow, backwards thugs. But this is the mentality of Chinese people. Genetically, they don’t have souls.

In america, our education is free and our leaders actually CARE.

You will never find this kind of disgusting, barbaric practice in a western school.

most importantly, we have DEMOCRACY! Everyone here that? DEMOCRACY.

      • Gary says:

Exactly; compare this story with the one just below it. General’s son in custom BMW beats up people with no fear of retribution vs children study in dialidated coffin storage shed.

      • queen says:

So funny. American leaders care about education?
        Hilarious.
Just one good example:Almost 30% of third graders in Long Island cannot read in their great level. Great education!

  2. Curren$y says:

I have this sudden urge to go work at the school
    :'( poor kids

  3. Mally Menson says:

So f’ing what if there’s coffins there. Just as long as there are no bodies in there.

  4. Augis says:

Can anyone explain to me what is so outraging in having a coffin in the classroom?
Yes, it is inappropriate – but that’s it.

  5. Mark says:

    This make China look bad.

Chinese look stupid with coffin in class with little ones, but in America little one dodge stray bullet from they gang banger just go to school. China is developing country. Chinese people have right to keep coffin in class for Halloween party every year.

  6. Laoshi says:

    A coffin? BIG FUCKING DEAL!

  7. Schools always need extra desks!

  8. Dave says:

It’s the same everywhere. Here in the USA we have plenty of schools like that in the inner city. Lower income people are never given good schools. Heck, right here in Washington, DC, where I live, they don’t even have money to give books to the students. Or supplies. And the students have to walk to school in fear because nothing is done to try and stop bullies who frighten them. The National Guard could protect them but they are off in Afghanistan and Iraq instead of right here where we need them.

  9. Jason says:

    i think there’s a gook inside…

  10. Jason says:

    no, a gooK.

    I NEED KIMCHI PLZ!

  11. So Sad says:

This is very sad and a real problem in china esp in very poor rural areas. 10 years ago they don’t even telephone each house. They have 1 telephone per village (usually in the post office) or village elder home. Now china is more advanced and actually have some internet in the rural villages.

  12. Herb Fong says:

Wow, sounds worse than the Chernobyl disaster, the children must be so freaked out.
