This post serves no sensational and defiant purpose. Only when we attended the funeral of our fellow student with grief, did we recognize the untruthful report on the internet. We decided to air our grievance…

At about 3 p.m. March 5, Yang Fei, a second year postgraduate student of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JXUFE) was struck by a Honda SUV with license plate M23539, just after getting off a bus at the west entrance of JXUFE. She was sent to the hospital and that night she died from sustained injuries. The car accident killed 2 people and wounded 4 others. A restaurant owner who was famous among students of JXUFE died from the collision. The driver who caused the accident, Liao Weiming, was the vice Principal of Jiangxi Agricultural University (JXAU).

Have you ever seen a middle-aged man murmuring “Yang Fei don’t leave us.” in tears? Have you ever seen a boy’s crying face but forcefully smiles at you? Have you ever seen a father resisting removing the breathing machine from his dead daughter and refusing to sign on the death certificate in an attempt to hold the last thread of hope? If you were me, seeing all these, you would hope to right Yang Fei’s injustice so that she will go to heaven peacefully.

March 5, afternoon, the alleged perpetrator of the accident was released on bail. Till next day afternoon he was detained under the pressure of relevant departments and the clamor of Yang’s family members.

Only Yang’s family members, fellow students and teachers accompanied her till her death. Liao Weiming’s family members left without an apology to Yang’s parents but with an excuse for taking care of Liao’s child.

All media was forbidden to report the accident in Nanchang, the provincial capital of Jiangxi Province. 3 days passed since the accident, all media and witnesses kept silent. We wonder why Qilu TV of Shandong Province reported it instead of TV stations of Jiangxi Province. What we resented the most was that the media emphasized that there was no drunk driving. However, tests showed at noon on March 8 that Liao was driving under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol level was measured at 34mg/100ml by the traffic police. We’ve lost faith in justice and fairness by the media misleading reports. We can’t even protect Yang for the last time.

We wrote this with the intention of demanding justice for Yang Fei and dedicating our efforts to her parents. We are thankful to see so many teachers and students of JXUFE stood by Yang Fei.

The victim, Yang Fei, 23-year old, was expired at her youth. How could the alleged perpetrator get bailed out right the way?

We have never imagined people around us would pass away, especially someone so close. She was our classmate. She was our roommate. But now she has passed away because of the wild drunk driving of the vice principal of JXAU. Don’t shield your crime with under-the table deals. Have you no shame?

Below is a post on renren.com. Please help us and help the falling society. Let the post make to some place that can help us.

      Oops, I meant

What a waste of money, a good scholar is gonna have to spend some of his book money to settle this out of court.

You worthless piece of shit. I hate to say it but, I look forward to the day something like this happens to you or your family. You are a waste of oxygen

Is he also Li Gang’s relative?

  4. Mark says:

He was released on bail, which should mean he was charged with an offense and will stand trial.

The real issue here is that there is no independent judicial system and all the victims know that there is no real rule of law in China.

    • pug_ster says:

If there is no real rule in China, then how come he was out on bail? He probably have to come back to court and tried for his crimes. Second, if this news report was censored, then what’s with the youku video?

      • huz says:

he didnt say censored, and he said rule of LAW
Do you even know what that is?

        • pug_ster says:

huz, you really are a moron. You didn’t read my statement, didn’t you? Some morons here seem to want some kind of street justice where this Vice Principle gets lethal injection or life in prison. The problem with this is intent, I am sure that everybody would agree that it is not the intention that this Vice Principle to look to kill people by getting drunk. He is out on bail means that he will have to come back and face trial so he is not off the hook. Let China’s rule of law sort this out.

  5. vonskippy says:

Hopefully her parents have at least one photo where she doesn’t look like a complete dork holding up her fingers by her face.

  6. Mike says:

Keep us informed of the courts action. Somehow we must learn from this mistake.

  7. DirtBelly says:

well, PugSter, what is up with the youku video? It’s not working for me.

  8. Sketco says:
