Dragon Boat Festival: How to Make Zongzi
May 28th, 2009 by Key | Posted in Life Style | No Comments »Dragon Boat Festival occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar. In 2009 this falls on May 28. According to the custom the celebrations includes eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats.
How to make zongzi from Sohu:
Soak the glutinous rice in water for about 3 hours. Fold the reed or bamboo leaf into a triangular shape. Put a date at the bottom.
Stuff glutinous rice, put as many dates as you like, I put 2 to 3.
Wrap around the rest of the reed or bamboo leaf around the zongzi.
After wrapping use rope string tie it up.
Put into cold water, heat with high heat till water boils then use low heat to boil for 40 minutes, then turn the heat off and let it sit for 20 minutes.
